À propos de cet audio

Hanna Harp’s incendiary debut paranormal dark romance, perfect for fans of Sadie Kincaid’s Forged in Blood and Keri Lake’s Anathema, follows Cade, a devoted hunter fighting to shield his sister Callisto from a haunting generational curse, but when a mysterious spirit begins to break down his defenses, both his passion and his will ignite into a scorching, fourth-wall breaking read that places you at the heart of the story.

Warning: This is not just a book. It’s an invitation. A contract sealed the moment you turn the page. If you choose to read, you choose to be seen. If you choose to follow him, he will hunt you. This story does not end when you close the book...

Cade Halloway is a hunter, raised by the Order of the Covenant—a cult built on blood, sacrifice, and power. He tracks and eliminates the powerful and corrupt. A predator disguised as a savior, but he’s not here to save the innocent. He’s here to rip apart the monsters who hide in plain sight. For years, he has been their weapon. Until he discovered the truth...his sister Callisto is slated to be their next offering.

Callisto Halloway was supposed to die for the Order, but her brother has other plans. While in hiding, unable to help or fight, she spends her time trying to control the power she was born with, the power that the Order will kill for. But independence comes at a price, and her uncontrolled power summons a demon far more dangerous than the Order. One that wants more than her body or her soul.

Now, on the run from the Order, Cade’s only purpose is to save his sister. But Callisto’s power has consequences. There’s now an unseen force—a spectral presence—following Cade he can’t explain and can't escape. A presence that breaks down all of his defenses, and tears down walls even he didn’t know he had built, as he finds himself drawn to it in mind, spirit, and body. And it may be the only thing that can save him and Callisto.

You.

I really loved this listen! As soon as I came across it for pre-order I put a credit on it because it sounded really really good. And it did not disappoint, I enjoyed every second of this book. Loved everything from beginning until end, I cannot wait for the second book so I can listen to it too!

Great listen!

This was heavily marketed as a book where YOU are the love interest. While that premise was extremely alluring I feel it was poorly executed. YOU are a ghost, there no real connection or main story line to it, it’s like the author just mentions you as a presence and you have “relations” with the side character (I say side character as the MFC and MMC are Callisto and Alabaster honestly - to be noted their story was pretty decent)
Honestly, a lot through this book I felt like the author just tried to mash together a bunch of tropes and popular aspects of different books and stuff.
The book wasn’t entirely horrible, but if you were coming to be the main love interest and looking for this book based off the marketing that they did, you may not enjoy it.
I do appreciate that the author made the ghostly presence that is supposed to be us ambiguous where anyone could picture themselves as the presence keeping a gender neutral aspect to the scenes (“we” are basically there to add more smut, which there’s plenty of in this book)

Marketing felt misleading

I don’t usually write reviews, nor do I typically reach for the paranormal genre, but I couldn’t resist giving this book a try for the concept of the reader being the love interest. The story was more focused on the sisters storyline (which was incredible), so being the love interest is more spread out into through the brothers POV, not as often. Nonetheless great book! Incredible debut for the author! Ended on a cliff hanger

Incredible debut

A really great read. It was a little bit of a rough start with trying to adjust to the fourth wall break and follow the story but it quickly hooked me! Alibaster had me smiling and laughing the whole way through! Can’t wait for more!

A great read

This had a lot of potential. It almost felt like several chapters were missing in the beginning with how fast it started. I think I needed more world building. There was a lot going on and it took a while to understand how it overlapped.

The performances were good but I HATED that it wasn’t a true “full cast” performance. Like why was the female narrator doing supporting male character parts in the FMC chapters?? Why was Teddy Hamilton doing female voices??

I also feel like all the promo for “you, the reader, are the love interest” was WAY over hyped.

Had potential
