Heart Warming Heart Block
Heart Block by Melissa Brayden is one of those heartwarming stories that you want to settle down in a cozy spot and read/listen to when you are having a bad day. Just reading it will make you feel better and maybe bring a smile to your face.
This is a story of two women meeting and falling in love in spite of the fact that there are huge differences in their lives. Sarah is a single mother working in the family cleaning business. Her daughter, eight year old Grace has a medical problem involving her heart. Emory was raised in a high society family and is driven by their expectations to make a name for herself in business even though she secretly just wants to paint. The three meet by chance when Emory hires Sarah to help organize the home of Emory’s deceased mother for sale. Of course, the attraction begins and the sweet romance builds from there. All is not smooth in this story, though. There are quite a few roadblocks and some heartbreak involved in this tale. I’ll let you read and find these out.
This is a lovely and sweet romance. The characters are likeable and real. The story will make you smile and perhaps bring a tear to your eyes at times. The audible version, which I listened to, is excellently narrated.
I recommend it to all who love a good romance.

Narrator wrecks this book!
This is a sweet book. I love the characters and the journey of their romance but I wish I had read it instead of listened to it. Mia Chiaromonte should NEVER narrate romance novels unless maybe they are for teens.
Firstly her voice is so super peppy at all times that I felt like she lost a lot of the deeper and more subtle points of the novel. Also one thing I love about Melissa Brayden is the dry sometime sarcastic sense of humor of her characters. The chirpy narration completely misses and glosses over it. Also who really wants Pollyanna narrating a sex scene. Just no. Nope. Nope. Nope!
My biggest problem was very fake and thick accent she gave to Sara. As someone who immigrated to this country as a child (with an accent), I can tell you that after 10 years of living in this country I had no accent.
The author makes a point of saying that Sara took pains to lose her accent in Junior High. Also people who refer to her accent in the book say they hear a 'hint' of an accent. Ms. Chiarmonte makes it sound like Sara came to America yesterday (from some Hollywood version of Mexico where the inhabitants all sound like Speedy Gonzalez).
It was very annoying and took me out of the story time after time. My advice for anyone wanting to buy this is for them to get the book instead.

Good Listen
With the exceptions of some over reliance on cliches and a senseless breakup towards the end which seemed quite contrived I liked it okay I guess. Another issue which seems to plague most if not all Melissa Brayden's works is that it seems that before she even begins a story she chooses one of the MC's to be the victim and the other is designated as the one who must apologize in all situations where a disagreement occurs between the two of them. Perhaps I'm just a contrarian but in many of her books I see the situation differently than the author. Due to a couple of these interactions I dropped my rating from 4 stars to 3; at one point I was huge fan the author's works, I still give all her books a chance but I approach them less enthusiastically now.

Sweet Story, Witty Writing & Fantastic Narration
What I loved about Heart Block was the combination of great writing and the way the narrator captured the spirit of the characters. This story was sweet without too much drama which I generally prefer for romance novels. This is definitely a story I will listen to many times.

My favorite!
I read this book a few years back. It's actually my favorite by this author. I'm not sure how I feel about this narrator. I gotta say, I interpreted the book in my mind differently from the way it was narrated. I will probably reread this book again in the future, not sure if I will listen to the audio though. It wasn't extremely bad, just wasn't my cup of tea. There were mistakes made by the narrator that I noticed. I loved the book though, it was a beautiful story and very well written. If you're a bookworm like myself, I believe you will enjoy reading this title more than listening to it. Happy reading!

Great story; less than stellar narration
This is one of my favourite lesfic books, but it’s let down by the narration, which is pretty monotone with little voice variation (except for an “hispanic” accent that also didn’t vary amongst characters).

Beautifully written story with some romance, a bit of angst, and a few surprises along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be looking out for more stories from this author. Mia Chiaromonte did a fabulous job with the narration.
