New York architect Ignacio Thomas was enthralled by Barcelona, the city of the Modernistas. The opportunity to renovate one of the stellar attractions of the city gripped his creativity to its core. From his first introduction, he was caught in the swirl of beauty and freedom that abounded in the architecture of the city, and in the architecture of Alexis, his project coordinator.
His introduction to the Palau de la Musica Catalana, the jewel of Barcelona, was by a sparrow-like old woman whose hooded eyes peered up at him and shared the glory of the building. At the moment of his first introduction, the building howled, a cry as painful and divisive as the décor was exquisite. The old woman’s spirits glowed. “You have been welcomed.”
Ignacio’s journey into the world of love, abandonment, and death that surrounds the history of the beautiful building and its project manager can be solved by one destructive action–tearing her heart free.
