Histoire
Mitza Maric has always been a little different from other girls. Most 20-year-olds are wives by now, not studying physics at an elite Zurich university with only male students trying to outdo her clever calculations. But Mitza is smart enough to know that, for her, math is an easier path than marriage. And then fellow student Albert Einstein takes an interest in her, and the world turns sideways. Theirs becomes a partnership of the mind and of the heart, but there might not be room for more than one genius in a marriage.

She's a poor farmer's daughter with nowhere to go and nothing in her pockets. But the other woman with the same name has vanished, and pretending to be her just might get Clara some money to send back home.

Description
"Fans of historical fiction will devour this complex portrait of a brilliant and trailblazing genius and the price she paid to advance the frontiers of science." (Beatriz Williams, New York Times best-selling author of Our Woman in Moscow)
The new novel from the New York Times best-selling author of The Mystery of Mrs. Christie!
She changed the world with her discovery. Three men took the credit.
Rosalind Franklin has always been an outsider - brilliant, but different. Whether working at the laboratory she adored in Paris or toiling at a university in London, she feels closest to the science, those unchanging laws of physics and chemistry that guide her experiments. When she is assigned to work on DNA, she believes she can unearth its secrets.
Rosalind knows if she just takes one more X-ray picture - one more after thousands - she can unlock the building blocks of life. Never again will she have to listen to her colleagues complain about her, especially Maurice Wilkins, who'd rather conspire about genetics with James Watson and Francis Crick than work alongside her.
Then it finally happens - the double helix structure of DNA reveals itself to her with perfect clarity. But what unfolds next, Rosalind could have never predicted.
Marie Benedict's powerful new novel shines a light on a woman who sacrificed her life to discover the nature of our very DNA, a woman whose world-changing contributions were hidden by the men around her but whose relentless drive advanced our understanding of humankind.

Great telling of a true story
It was so interesting and informative to hear the story of Rosalin Franklin, so well narrated by Nicola Barber. This is the best audiobook I've encountered in a long time.

Her Hidden Genius
The author has outdone herself once again. I found this book heartbreaking, but also enlightening. I to had an experience in a British university while I was doing doctoral studies. A Canadian, I was a custom to openness between investigators much like Roslin did while she was in France. During that time British men were indeed unwilling to work with women in a cooperative fashion. Unfortunately Roslin experienced poor health, and could not defend her rightful position as a senior investigator and world leader in Crystalography. She was the scientist who determined the shape of DNA.

Narration detracts from story
The whispery narration adds melodrama and odd emotion, particularly because the author chose first-person from which to tell this story. Disappointing.
