This is not suspenseful or close to domestic thriller. Badly written after chapter 5 I used it as background noise to fall asleep at night . Don’t waste your time

The story itself was fine, nothing spectacular. There was no element of suspense at all though. There is no one who “will stop at nothing” like the description says. Just ok.
The narration was not great for the first 25% or so. The author would start at an easy to understand volume but every sentence trailed off and it was hard to hear.

Categorized Incorrectly

This Fern Michaels story isn't "bad" per sé, just solidly in the category of lighthearted coffee-shop mysteries and silly psychic/witches stories (to my mind, the stuff is more like a cross between 'Scooby-Doo' and 'Nancy Drew' than anything written for a mature Domestic/Crime Thriller fan like myself). Thankfully, this one doesn't go overboard with the sappy "Romance-with-the-sexy-local" elements that plague the Cupcakes & Crystals genre.. but both the Publisher's Summary and algorithm-driven Audible categorization are way off. The book was nothing like what I was expecting. My impression is that if you adored 'The Babysitter's Club' books as a tween, this book was written for you (not my thing). Still, I listened to the whole audiobook.

As to presentation: Recorded Books Inc. could have cast this project better. Eva Kaminski reads professionally.. but her frequent deep inspirations can be jarring if you're listening with earbuds. If you decide to try the book, stick to the speakers on your car/device.

Altogether, I give 'Hidden' 4.5 stars out of 10. To be perfectly honest, this genre isn't in my wheelhouse - so it might be worth more than that - but I found the villains cookie-cutter and Michaels's descriptions of 'Luna' obsessing over her makeup, twirling her pretty dress like a 7-year-old, and indulging in flaky pastries self-indulgent. I could have found better ways to spend my time.. even for free.
