Description

Easytown is the city of a thousand stories; tales of betrayed trusts, tarnished virtues, easily obtained vices, and street justice are common.

Treat yourself to a glimpse into the dark future world of New Orleans, where humanity's base desires have overshadowed common decency, and very few are willing to stand in the way. With 10 stories by seven well-known independent authors, High Tech/Low Life is guaranteed to please.

It's a gritty world, full of murky choices where the line between good and evil is smeared with blood. Welcome to Easytown.

With stories by Martin Allen, Chris Philbrook, Valerie Lioudis, Joseph Hansen, C.T. Phipps, J.B. Havens, and Brian Parker.

I was a bit disappointed...

After tearing through the Easytown trilogy, I wanted more... I Needed More! As a result, I was more than happy to find this book, and snatch it up, even though it's written by several writers that I don't know. I figured it would be Okay (like minded people, and all that), but wait a moment, at least two of the stories in this collection were written by Brian Parker, the original author of the Easytown trilogy! Score!!!
The stories were pretty good, but they didn't bring the magic as much as I'd hoped, just more Droids, Gangsters, Hookers, and how bad it was to live in Easytown, once known as the French Quarter in this futuristic New Orleans...
The real problem for me, though, was the narration, while Michael Soma was ok, he simply wasn't Daniel Penz ( who'd narrated the original trilogy), and then there was Santha Vega! The production value of her work was flat-out lousy! I found it very hard to hear her, almost as if her microphone had been wrapped in a dense, fuzzy blanket... really badly muffled. I believe that I may have even liked her voice acting and accent, if only I'd been able to hear her. So, yeah, I was a bit disappointed with this collection, when I'd wanted to Love it so.

Interesting Cyberpunk

Solid collection of cyberpunk short stories.

Set in the world of Easytown, it was interesting to see just how people coped in the futuristic society. Though I haven’t read the original Easytown novels, I am tempted to after seeing what this collection had to offer.

Narration was well done by the male narrator, but the female narrator had points where it was difficult to understand/hear her.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A good set of short stories

these stories were pretty good. I didn't like the female narrator as much, but all of the stories were interesting.

Exploring a Dystopian New Orleans

After listening to the Easytown novels I was definitely interested in digging deeper into the town and this certainly satisfied that itch. Each author lends their particular style to a story about the town and it's obvious they understood the town before writing as they all fit into that universe. A pretty even collection, it was consistently great throughout.

A glimpse of a seedy future?

High Tech Low Life.
The Easy Town world opened up to other authors. This is a collection of short stories set in Easy Town. And as such you'll probably love some and be uninspired by a couple.
The narration is more than excellent and the narrators carry the book in places.
Overall it is a good read/listen , and if you haven't already listened to the original stories this is a good place to dip in to Easy Town.

Gritty, Enjoyable Anthology

This book is an anthology of short stories in the Easytown universe, written by guest authors with a few by the main author.

This collection of stories helps give Easytown some needed depth. Just a word of warning: this is Easytown. Don't expect nice happy endings. Out of the collection of stories, my favorites were The Cigar Prince by Martin Allen, and Throw Aways by Brian Parker.

The only issue I could find in this collection was with the audio narration. The female narrator was difficult to understand at times.

Awesome cyber noir anthology!

Each story was awesome! I love the entire feel of the universe they exist in. I totally dig the idea of multiple authors penning stories based in the same setting. Would def pick up any further anthologies.
