The book's premise was interesting but character moments were rushed. There was plenty of opportunity to expand on the internal conflicts but the heroine seemed too wishy washy... going from someone who was to join the convent to handfasting within a few days. it just didn't seem plausible as it was written here. secondary characters had their arcs but again seemed rushed. I'm genuinely concerned for the narrators voice when she tried a raspy Scottish burr. It seemed painful to read things that way.
