The Great Courses
À propos de cet audio
As the birthplace of Judaism and Christianity, the Holy Land (the area in and around modern-day Israel) is one of the most important regions in the world and the setting for defining events in religious history.
Comb through this evidence for yourself with The Holy Land Revealed, which will add new dimensions to your understanding of this dynamic place. Delivered by archaeologist and award-winning Professor Jodi Magness of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, these 36 lectures give you an insider’s look at how archaeology helps us relive this period of civilization. And it’s a chance to get up close and personal with long-buried objects that will take you deep beneath the pages of the Bible.

©2010 The Great Courses (P)2010 The Teaching Company, LLCI’m not saying this wasn’t well done, it just isn’t as compelling as the courses mentioned above. The most interesting part of the course was the final lecture where Jodi talks about the archaeological process. She’s obviously a brilliant archaeologist and very passionate. Really I don’t want to be too nit-picky, but she does sometimes present certain things as fact that historians may disagree with ie. Constantine making Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire (he did not), presenting the biblical narrative of David as historical (we really have no idea about almost any detail of the historical David) etc.
This would have been so much better if it was shorter, only focusing on the field of archaeology in ancient Palestine.
Overall pretty good…
