However if you are interested in ancient history, I would sooner recommend the great courses series on ancient Egypt, by Bob Brier. It is fantastic. If you are interested in the bible and ancient Judaism, check out Amy-Jill Levine’s great courses series on the Old Testament. If you want to know more about the Dead Sea scrolls, there is a course dedicated exclusively on that subject. If you want to understand early Christianity, Bart Ehrman has several great courses series.

I’m not saying this wasn’t well done, it just isn’t as compelling as the courses mentioned above. The most interesting part of the course was the final lecture where Jodi talks about the archaeological process. She’s obviously a brilliant archaeologist and very passionate. Really I don’t want to be too nit-picky, but she does sometimes present certain things as fact that historians may disagree with ie. Constantine making Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire (he did not), presenting the biblical narrative of David as historical (we really have no idea about almost any detail of the historical David) etc.

This would have been so much better if it was shorter, only focusing on the field of archaeology in ancient Palestine.
