Easily one of the best books in the series, sadly it was let down by erratic volume levels. often too quiet to hear and then suddenly its blowing out your speakers. It did improve a bit later, but still problematic for those listening in cars or with sensitive hearing.

At times the narrator would simply read on without an appropriate pause to allow the impact of a scene to be felt. Volume was erratic.

Great tale but there were problems with the narration where phrases needed to have sense of impact

I can forgive the odd mispronounced word, but the lack of character intonnation and extremely slow delivery were disappointing to say the least. Such a shame for E M Forester's Hornblower series is something that I revisiting from my childhood.
