Nearing the end of his career the author entered into the solar industry. After realizing how commonly he was not able to build a solar panel system that would produce 100% of his customer's electricity needs due to limited square footage on the roof, he started doing research on other ways to lower electrical consumption.
As he was giving advice to his customers he started seeing them taking notes and saying things like "That's a great idea!" Finally after receiving many thank you calls from customers on how much their bill went down even before the solar panels were installed, he knew he had to get this information out to more people than just the one to two couples he saw a day for a solar consultation.
