Excellent - loved the new Narrator!

Always lovely to re-enter Mma Ramotswe's Botswana. The story is gentle and slow-moving....like all these books. The new narrator was fabulous.

Oh no!

Love the series, adore the characters but oh the narrator! I soldiered thru this one out of love and loyalty!

really missed Lizette

Narrator should have just read rhe book & not done characters. It was really hard to listen to this book with her harsh characterizations, but her voice was good when just reading normally. As always, good story. Wish it was another Lizette narration.

Where is lisette lecat????

Our family has listened to these books since the beginning. One of the most enjoyable parts is the absolutely stunning voice of Lisette Lecat. Without her voice, I don’t know how we can listen. I tried the new narrator, hopeful, but my husband came in, looked shocked, and said simply: no.

We used to go to sleep listening to these stories, long drives, long walks... Ms. Lecat’s narration is as gentle as the soul of Mma Ramotswe. This new narrator makes Charlie sound moronic, and Mma Makutse sound insane. We can’t listen to this in a relaxed state.

For so many years, I have laughed and cried in these books... but how can I now? The soft voice of Mma Ramotswe has been taken away. The new reader is clearly a talent. I’m not saying she’s not a fine narrator. She simply is not a gentle, wizened, empathetic sounding narrator. We are going miss Lisette lecat and I don’t know that we can continue with the series. This is heart breaking.

Terrible Narrator

Awful narrator. An insult to people of Botswana as am pretty sure that's not the way they speak. Really hard to focus on the story which is unfortunate.

Narrator hard to listen to

I love these books, have read them all. I’m not well and decided in a couple of audio versions. The narrator was so irritating the characters all sounded like the witches of Macbeth. So disappointing. Her voice hurt my ears!!

Good story, awful narration

Could not listen to entire story because of the narration. incredibly irritating voice. Wish they would have someone who just read the story and did not try to make up voices for the characters that turned them into caricatures.

The worst narrator…ever

She actually had a very nice voice when reading the story but Charlie and Mma Makutsi’s voices were so grating! I tried to muscle through but I just couldn’t do it. Didn’t make it past Chapter 2.

Performance was impossible

Even though I have listened to all the prior books in this series I could not complete this one. The narrator has the most dreadful high pitched voice I have ever heard from the 450 plus audiobooks I have listened to. What happened to the melodious voice of Ms. Lecat? The current selection is most regrettable.
