À propos de cet audio

Desperate to solve a global food shortage, ExoGen scientist Dr. Ella Masse oversees the creation and release of RC-714, a gene that unlocks millions of years of adaptation and evolution, allowing crops to use long dormant junk DNA to rapidly adapt to any environment.

The world’s food supply grows aggressively, occupying every inch of earth, no matter how inhospitable. World hunger is averted. Humanity flourishes. RC-714 is digested, absorbed…and passed on.

The Change affects small fast-breeding mammals first. They multiply with the same aggressive speed as the ExoGen plants, but an insatiable hunger drives them to violence. A war between species breaks out. When RC-714 reaches humanity, along with every other large creature on the planet, civilization implodes. Every living thing that consumed the ExoGen crops begins to adapt to a world full of predators, accessing genes dating back to the beginning of life itself.

Peter Crane and his son Jakob survive the Change, living in their family farmhouse and eating non-ExoGen food from a biodome, one of many provided by Ella Masse, who discovered the ramifications of her breakthrough too late. The pair ekes out a living in a world full of monsters, surviving until Ella shows up on their doorstep with her daughter, pursued by desperate predators and men alike.

As the farmhouse falls under attack, Crane learns that the end of humanity, of life on Earth, can still be averted—if Ella Masse and her daughter survive and if they make it to the other side of the country without being captured…or consumed.

Jeremy Robinson merges the science of Michael Crichton with the horror of Stephen King in this fresh take on the post-apocalypse, creating a true worst-case scenario for GMO crops that will have people reading labels before eating their next pepper, tomato, or kernel of corn.

I read the first book years ago but didn't read the second as the third one was not going to be written, glad to see Jeremy Robinson finished it. I was hooked from the first chapter all the way to the last, would highly recommend to anyone to read.

Great book

I really enjoyed this trilogy. It was imaginative and fun to listen to. It would make a cool movie or series.

Acknowledging this is a work of science fiction created by the authors imagination. I found the storyline was for the most part original and interesting. As the book progresses it gets and more imaginative and less and less believable. I don't know why I continued listening to the third book.
Almost like author had lost control his imagination. Found myself starting to roll my eyes. So without being a total spoiler think the book ended abruptly, like the author was in a hurry to wrap it up.
The performance was good though and thought he captured the characters well.

First book was inventive

I've never thought about what might happen when the zombies continue changing!! The writing and the performance are AWESOME!!

The overall story was pretty awesome, the performance was solid and in keep with each of the character’s personality.

The standout for me was the great post-apocalyptic setting that made everything in the world both prey and predator.

The arc of every character was solid too, maybe I found the ending a bit far fetched at times and somewhat anticlimactic in others, but it still mostly delivered.

I’m glad I gave the Hunger a shot, hope you do too, it’s worth it!

Pretty gripping!

What a great trilogy! The characters had great and complex personalities and it was fun to spend 3 books with them. I’m not spoiling anything. Let’s just say the story in the third book is even wilder than in the previous two. Great concept and a lot of fun.
Recommend for fans of sci-fi, biotech and action.

Fantastic

Great book. Good combo of humour sci-fi and adventure. Definitely recommend this trilogy. Keeps you on edge. Book kept me awake at night because I didn’t want to stop listening.

Great story

This is like an 80’s action movie. Over the top, so many tropes and cliches, moving from action set piece to action set piece and - it was great. Up until the last hour or two where it kind of all fell apart for me. Otherwise I enjoyed it immensely.

Just a big ol’ bucket of popcorn type of book
