Laugh and Cry

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The author shared numerous experiences from her career as a forensic psychiatrist and from her personal life. Very entertaining and informative. If her goal was to remove some of the stigmas associated with mental health issues, she achieved that. Having the book ready by the author herself was an added bonus.

Well-written, very personal. More of a Memoir.

Dr. Morrison deserves credit for her cogent timeline of her experience - both personal and professional. She is a talented writer.
I enjoyed her evolution from medical student to forensic psychiatrist and the various positions she held. She spoke of many different committees, conferences, case studies, and patients.
Personally, I found this to be more of a memoir than a scientist discussing their work (which I think was the intent). I found that a bit difficult because it wasn't what I was looking for.

[SPOILER] Most of my difficulties came with her familial accounts, specifically the hospice experience she ends the book with. It's extremely personal and very long (understandably). For me, I was looking for more about the science, as I was attempting to escape a caregiving experience myself. It was a tough ending to get through.
