Amazing Performance

I am not much for audiobooks, but after listening to this series I started listening to to more audiobooks, The performance is amazing, every character have a distinct voice, and you can feel the emotion in every piece of dialogue.

Unapologetically queer

For all the machinations of the Empress and the demons and the church, the moments that work best are the quiet ones: the love in the found family of Claire and Rae and their two adopted daughters, the trials and joys of parenting, and Rae supporting a trans student to embrace womanhood and transition. Volume 4 suffers a bit from the Empire storyline being stretched out over 3 volumes, whereas the Revolution storyline of the first two volumes was more tightly plotted, but I'm excited to see where the conflict between the demons and the church is going in volume 5.
