Description
Judge. Jury. Executioner.
On a cold January morning, the killer executed Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse in broad daylight. Eight shots fired a block from the Kaufman County Courthouse. Two months later, a massacre. The day before Easter, the couple slept. Bunnies, eggs, a flower centerpiece gracing the table. Death rang their doorbell and filled the air with the rat-a-tat-tat of an assault weapon discharging round after round into their bodies.
Eric Williams and his wife, Kim, celebrated the murders with grilled steaks. Their crimes covered front pages around the world, many saying the killer placed a target square on the back of law enforcement. Williams planned to exact revenge on all those who had wronged him, one at a time. Throughout the spring of 2013, Williams sowed terror through a small Texas town, and a quest for vengeance turned to deadly obsession. His intention? To keep killing, until someone found a way to stop him.

BOR-ING!!
I am 3.5 hours into it, still waiting for something, anything to happen. Besides the droll “born, grew up, went to college, got married etc! COME ON!! There must be a murder in this sleepy dream somewhere, or at least some suspicious ingredients to keep me awake. But, no. Nothing. I can’t take any more of this “all concerned living boring middle class lives”.
Honestly, I am sort of a true crime addict so I need some bread crumbs to follow from the outset. Most commonly, mucho investigation has been done by time a book cones out, so there is a kind of thread to hang on to even if the main excitement doesn’t come until much later on.
So I have diligently listened for a hook and perhaps a couple items inserted by the author are intended to serve the purpose but the way they were mentioned was so flat and normal seeming (killed cats, had guns) (but this was in Texas) that I would have passed over them as just more dull things like, he got a promotion.
So I had the argument with myself and I finally won, I am exchanging this dud for something interesting IF I can find something. It’s getting very hard because it ends up I already have the good-sounding ones when I search.
So, very disappointing experience for me and now I have to start over again to sift out something that is the quality I need. I guess I’ve been spoiled by the NY Times best selling authors and such. Been addicted too long.

Terrible narration, great story!
This narrator's voice acting skills, or lack thereof, horrid. And an apparent inability to pronounce simple words, a well as differentiate between words and abbreviations, was distracting. She is definatly no Will Patton, or Frank Muller, that's for sure. The story is a good one though.

This was too hard to follow
I only could get through a few chapters and I just couldn't follow who was who and what was going on. I think over all it was the writer and not the narrater.

Excellent Story
Very well done, kept me enraptured through the whole book!! Just wished there was more context with the jury decision portion of the story.

Not bad.
This book is a decent listen. I just don’t believe for one second the wife wasn’t a willing and eager participant.

Snooze fest
The author took what should’ve been a four hour book and made it a 15 hour book. Unbelievably slow, tedious, and boring. It’s filled with extraneous information that means nothing and does not advance the story in anyway. Save your time on this one, and just go listen to a podcast.

Interesting Read
A shocking, unlikely case. How did an experienced, respected legal professional named Eric Williams turn to cold blooded murder? Casey in novels depicts him as an ordinary man who when he felt he had lost everything unjustly, had no choice but do so. The Kaufman county murders show just how murderers can even be in the most unlikely places, the legal profession.

Great book
Fascinating case, very well written too.
Kate Reading is, by far, my favorite narrator. J
