Canadian book, Canadian accent. Get used to it.

First off, although I agree that this narrator was not great, I have to point out that her pronunciation is correct for British Columbia- where the story is set, where the narrator is from, and where the writer lives. (I'm not sure why this book should have been recorded with Oklahomans in mind, but I digress). Americans: now you know how it feels for Canadians to suffer through book after book where roof is pronounced "ruff" and foyer is pronounced "foy-err" by American narrators! Anyway, I'm sure there is a genre in which this narrator could shine, but this is not it. The weird, breathy, over-enunciated speaking style and awkward cadence feels more appropriate for children's cartoons than murder mystery. It's distracting, but not because of her accent.
