It’s set in a slightly inconsistent near future/plus paranormal world. But past events have altered some things (consistent with someone having a poor understanding of history not really worried about knock on effects). It makes it challenging to gauge how dangerous the suddenly showing up for a chapter before being easily defeated threats Are.
Each chapter has a tendency to have reminders of what happened written into them, which as an audiobook means that every 30 minutes or so you get a recap of what happened 40 minutes back. It’s not great flow.
The characters in this two volume set (which I think is setting the trend for one girl per book up to at least 7) are pretty flat. High school warrior nun tries to kill but then falls for university nerd plus sex god. A sex god loyal to his past lover (which has a slight ick factor when the ages of those involved are thought about). Book two introduces nerdy girl next door plus science fiction background.
If you want it for the steamy stuff, not very dense in that regard either.
All in all, not a series I will continue nor one I suggest for others. It feels like a young author just fan fiction writing about how they wish they were as amazing as this dull character.
