Lots of suspense, excellent plot
This book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Great storyline, great narration. The characters all have their own personalities, some are a little irritating, but they add to the story. I really enjoyed this book! I stayed up all night to finish it, I just couldn't put it down. I love Ray Porter as a narrator, he keeps me listening every time. I have chosen books specifically because he is the narrator, and he never disappoints.

I"m hooked
Very much enjoyed this book. It's my first time listening to this genre. I own over 100 Audible books and this title made it into my top 10. Im looking forward to book 2. Well written, kept me engaged, and the narrator was amazing!

Slightly disappointing
The story line showed great promise and held my interest, despite the poor character development. The portrayal of female characters seemed somewhat unrealistic to me. It appears that more diversity and perspectives in the creation and execution of the book would have been beneficial. I was initially open to giving the second book a chance, but I became concerned upon hearing a racial comment in the preview, which seemed unsettling and stereotypical about black men and tattoos. It would be really valuable to include an editor from a different background in future books to offer fresh insights. Books like this have a large and diverse audience base, consider that when making a book to attain more of a following. It would enrich your books and draw a larger audience.

Good book
Good book. Characters seem a little hollow and one dimensional. Not enough of a cliff hanger to make me buy the next book but ray porter dose a great job and the story is entertaining enough.

Had to skip past much
The characters seemed shallow, and a major inconsistency in the lead character, Meyer, bothered me too much. He was supposed to be brilliant about planning and having built a bunker to hide he and his family in, but couldn't foresee that the contractors who did the work wouldn't want it for themselves once the aliens came. Skipped past a lot of unnecessary details that were meant to create a complete picture for the reader, but just seemed to dumb things down too much.

Good concept but too misogynistic
Why does the narrator not only sound like Peter Griffin from Family Guy but also narrates all the women talking in a whiny voice???? I'd love to know where this story goes in the other books but I can not STAND the narration and disrespectful tone he portrays for the women. Was it the author portraying them like that or the narrator? Either way, if you are a woman or actually respect women, this may annoy you as well.

I'll be picking up the second book!
This was a well told tale and the narrator did a fantastic job. I'm invested enough that I want to know what happens next!
