characters were well built and the story progressed at a great pace. questioned how their sources of power was only limited by the characters, since when they took essense from their elements said elements didn’t lose power. but i how it makes more sense in later books

sitting here wondering when the next one is comming out. ive had an issue with audio books lately where I get bored and cant finish them. this one locked me in. finished it in 2 days. flat, that ending was perfect!

Tbh I thought the all 5 star reviews were fake or paid or something, for a book with so little reviews that I haven't heard of anyone talking about in any fantasy forums.. I was shocked and happy to inform you that it lived up to those reviews!

it's basically a great classic military fantasy, Roman Empire-esque setting with a twist. The MCs altho teenagers, don't have much of the usual annoying whiny immature arc which usually lasts at least a book or 2 b4 they mature. This is a sticking point for me, I absolutely can't stand that and it has made me DNR so many well reviewed books. I know it's realistic, but I read fantasy to enjoy myself, so imo I'd rather not have to listen to young MCs be whiny, immature and annoying for multiple books until they grow up a bit.. thankfully is definitely a breath of fresh air in that department.. and even without the whiny arc, you see character growth throughout the 1st book.. and even just being a set up for the rest of the series, this book was REALLY good. I was rivetted and often listeneeon 2X speed just to devour it faster! The magic system is interesting and unique, reminds me a bit of the 1st mistborn series which is 1 of my fav series of all time. Definitely worth a listen if you like military fantasy and mature (for a teenager) MCs!

i liked it , but damn i need book 2 and its not out yet!? Its a good progression fantasy, definitely sad at times and frustrating when shit happens, but he does grow and get stronger and has some solid satisfying victories. frustrating to have it ending right where it does leaving me wanting Book 2. hopefully I remember this when it eventually comes out!

This was an amazing story. The characters are very well done. And the world building is as good as Sanderson. The magic system is well thought out as well. Definitely 5 stars!
