I admit, I first read this book when I was about 9 or 10 years old, after we saw the movie on television. I thought it was a pretty good book as a kid and even as an adult. However, I don't think it's brilliant and it doesn't stand the test of time like authors such as Austen, Dickens, Trollope (for example) do. I thought Erik Steele did an excellent job narrating this book. I was happy this book was free to listen to as part of Audible's Plus Catalogue instead of paying a full credit for this.
