The kids are the least of our worries.
Seriously. If that sounds blasphemous in a book for concerned parents and educators (and anyone, really, who worries about "kids these days"), then I am so glad you're here. If you have a kid, work with a kid, or love a kid, you will find something inspiring in this audiobook. Dare I say, game-changing.
These words were born from the hundreds of stories of kids, their families, and their support systems I was lucky to meet as I worked across Canada and the USA. Regardless of who I met or where I met them, the message was always the same: Our kids are okay only if those of us holding them are okay.
During the developmental years, schools and educators are the most significant connection point to almost every child on this continent. But are the educators okay? I believe that most of the great educators want to make a difference. Many tell me, however, that they are finding it more and more difficult these days to love what they do. I think it's time we did a better job of looking after them first. Plain and simple, this book is for the educators: our teachers, bus drivers, administrators, educational assistants, librarians, administrative assistants, and custodians. And anyone who leads, loves, and supports them.
Plus just for you, I recorded a little bonus chapter filled with thoughts and ideas about the future and our next steps in this journey to create a more connected world.

Phenomenal, Heartbreaking, and Life Changing
I couldn't read this book fast enough. Poignant and life changing. Dr. Jody Carrington's book resonates with me and my work as an educator. She sees me and I'm all in.

The Real World

Oops you did it again
Kids these days was an amazing read and an amazing listen. I cannot believe how practical, how real and how heartwarming this book is. My husband and I have read the book, and so I decided that we would download the audible version so that we could listen to this book over and over again to find those pieces that we may have missed the first, second, and third listen or read of this book. As an educator, mom, and grandma, this story has just reached the bottom of my heart and soul. I cannot believe how so much of my life resonates with what was shared in this book. The energy and passion of the words shared is something I will carry with me as I lower my shoulders, take a deep breath, and hold my loved ones close. I titled this review “oops you did it again”, because after reading the book twice, listening to the audible version twice and reviewing my online course for this book, I keep learning. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your passion and your insight. But most importantly, thank you, Dr. Jody Carrington for sharing your Littles with us, sharing your stories with us, and sharing your energy. Please know, that you and your company will change the face of so many lives in and out if education. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Engaging and Inspiring
I loved so much about this book. Hearing the author read it made it even better as she is funny and engaging. This has given me so many tools to help the kids I work with, and also supported the idea that kids need connection before anything else. This has also reminded me how important taking care of myself as an educator is. Thank you!❤

I love this book!
I have listened to many many audiobooks and this has to be one of my favourites. I love Dr. Jody Carringtons narration and her ad-lib additions which made me feel like I was sitting right there with her. This book moved my heart.
A book that I had not intended to read/listen to ... as I am not a teacher so felt I would not relate to it. Was I ever wrong! My life is better for having read this book and it is one that I am filled with gratitude that it is now a part of me.

Please read this for YOU
I have never felt so lifted, hopeful, rejuvenated, and validated as an Educator, Mother, and survivor of childhood trauma and abuse. It’s good to know anyone who holds or listens to Dr. Jody’s words will come away with a deep wisdom of self-compassion so to give more of themselves sustainably, to those in their care.
Oh! And soooo funny too. The humour infused into this work of heart and soul transforms.

This is a must read for anyone who works with or supports those who work with kids.
I appreciate Dr. Jody is real and cares and believes deeply. What she says resonates with me for many reasons. She affirmed much of what I believe and also challenged some of my views.
