The most common triggers for homicide are fear, rage, revenge, money, lust, and, more rarely, sheer madness. This isn’t an exact science, of course. Any given murder can have multiple triggers. Sex and revenge seem to be common partners in crime. Rage, money, and revenge make for a dangerous trifecta of triggers, as well.

This book offers my memories of homicide cases that I investigated or oversaw. In each case, I examine the trigger that led to death. I chose this theme for the book because even though the why of a murder case may not be critical in an investigation, it can sometimes lead us to the killer.

And even if we solve a case without knowing the trigger, the why still intrigues us, disrupting our dreams and lingering in our minds, perhaps because each of us fears the demons that lie within our own psyche - the triggers waiting to be pulled.

Sometimes he says things I roll my eyes at coming off quite boomerish, but overall I do really enjoy his stories and his method of story telling. You can tell when he changes the page of the script though because he pauses even mid sentence haha

I've watched the Discovery series but hearing him read and use his own words, complete with expletives, is so much better. He is a very decent human being and had a very tough job to do. His delivery is sort of deadpan but it suits him when you get the full range of his thinking - unlike the Discovery show which is pretty censored. This is a worthwhile listen.

He's actually a funny and personable guy!

Joe Kenda deals with those who chose to get on the wrong side of Gods plan. Very engaging and entertaining considering the subject matter. Enjoy! I did!

Being a long time fan of yours it’s nice to listen to your recounting of some of the crimes you were involved in. It was also nice to hear how you became to be involved in your TV series. Hope there are more books to come best of luck with your continued retirement.
