Swoony cowboy and strong city girl
This was a great, slow burn read. It was the first book I’ve listened to/read by CW Farnsworth and it won’t be the last. Kyle is a country music sensation who is determined to go back to living a normal life in his hometown. Piper is the record label employee tasked with getting Kyle to sign a new contract, and when she does she’ll get the promotion she’s been wanting since she graduated college. Kyle is grumpy, closed off and refuses to entertain Piper pushing a new contract on him, so she endeavours to get to know him, and figure out what is making him refuse a new contract. The banter between these two was great! I loved seeing them fight their attraction to each other and when the tension finally snapped it was swoony. Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt are a dynamo narration duo, they were both absolute perfection as Kyle and Piper. Definitely check out King of Country if you love swoony, country music singing cowboys and strong, independent city girls who don’t know what they’re getting themselves into in a small Texas town.
