Praying for a happy ending, friends and family stood by Laci's grieving husband Scott. Four months later, Laci's decomposed body was found in the murky waters of San Francisco Bay. The body of her child had washed ashore about a mile away, after a possible "coffin birth." Scott Peterson's behavior had cast a mysterious shadow over the death of his pregnant wife: his alibi on the day of the disappearance was questionable; he admitted to an affair with another woman; and when he was finally charged with capital murder, he had altered his appearance. Almost immediately, the media condemned Scott, even though he maintains his innocence. Is Scott Peterson a victim of circumstantial evidence? Tragic story but so well written. the narrator was very good. Too often male narrators try to do a woman's voice and it sounds ridiculous. This was read very well.

New Information I Had Known Before

I knew nothing about this case other than the names which were all over the news back in early 2000. The story itself was good, it started off with the background of all of the those involved. It talked about Lacy and Scott and their relationship and how everything was wonderful. The problem I have is that it detailed the search, it talked about the mistress, it talked about his arrest and talked a bit about the pretrial and the trial, but at no point was there any discussion of evidence! What exactly was the evidence that they had against him other than mentioning that her body was found where he said he went fishing? That could be just coincidence... just playing devil's advocate here. It just seems weird to me that there was no discussion at all about how he was found guilty. How could a jury of 12 people find this man guilty of heinous murder and sentence him to death without any of the evidence being presented! They saw autopsy photos. Okay that's fine, I definitely don't want to see anything like that myself but there was not even talk about cause of death because she had missing parts to her body that were never recovered. But how is that evidence against Scott? I was hoping that I would be on board with him being guilty, just like the Chris Watts case, a family annihilator as well who confessed to the crime. Scott never confessed to it and to this day he maintains his innocence. The book just suddenly ended with his pronunciation of guilt and that was it. But there's a lot more to this case that has gone on up until this day. Where is the evidence?
