À propos de cet audio

Crazy Rich Asians meets Bridget Jones's Diary in this funny and irresistible debut novel about the pursuit of happiness, surviving one's thirties intact, and opening oneself up to love.

At thirty-three, Andrea Tang is living the dream: She has a successful career as a lawyer, a posh condo, and a clutch of fun-loving friends who are always in the know about Singapore's hottest clubs. All she has to do is make law partner, and her life will be perfect. And if she's about to become the lone unmarried member of her generation in the Tang clan--a disappointment her meddling Chinese-Malaysian family won't let her forget--well, she doesn't need a man to complete her.

Yet when a chance encounter with charming, wealthy entrepreneur Eric Deng offers her a glimpse of an exciting, limitless future, Andrea decides to give Mr. Right-for-her-family a chance. Too bad Suresh Aditparan, her office rival and the last man her family would approve of, keeps throwing a wrench in her plans. Now Andrea can't help but wonder: In the endless tug-of-war between pleasing others and pleasing herself, is there room for everyone to win?

I got a ton of extra unused credits, not knowing what I wanted purchase. I randomly started searching for any novels.

Bam a story about a single women in Singapore was enough for me to give this novel a try. Boyyy am I glad I did.

I was hooked, had to listen to it on my long drives to work and home. Made time fly by quickly. I even listened to it at home, which I never do! My wife and daughter can vouch that I did have a hard time listening to conversations that were directed towards me haha.

Lauren Ho’s story telling is incredible. She made characters I would normally hate to be entertaining. The diversity in this novel was what I cherished the most. You don’t always get South Asian and Muslim representation in a novel which it’s characters set in an East Asian location.

I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the sequel. Or any other books Lauren Ho decides to write.

This book is everything I didn’t know I wanted.

From the title and marketing of the book, I was hoping for a romp like Crazy Rich Asians or, if that was too much to expect, like Dial A for Aunties. But I simply couldn't get into this book. The premise is so predictable and the plot unfolds so stereotypically that if would be considered racist if a white person had written it. I'm going to try to get my audible credit back. Not the narrator's fault, she's great!

Extremely boring book!
