While the writing is actually pretty compelling, and the characters are interesting, the resolution is becoming a problem. Considering Gurney is one of NYPDs best detectives ever, he never actually solves a crime. Same formula here. in a risky whim to end the mayhem, Gurney ends up in a vulnerable situation (in which he almost dies) and is just as shocked to find out who the villain really is as the reader. That is not solving a crime. That is just getting lucky. Not sure I can go to book four with this pattern.

The formula is getting old...same ending.
