The true story covers the loss of Kieran Butterworth, Sarah's son, who lost his life to knife crime on the streets of Leeds at 17 years old. In this memoir, Sarah shares her pain and family's suffering through glimpses of actual events and treasured memories as they unfolded.
Writing Life Without Kie has taken a year to fully complete, and has been a task that has been emotionally draining for Sarah, but she has persevered in sharing her story as part of her larger efforts to denormalize and resensitize people to knife crime, and to make people aware of the lasting and devastating emotional impact that it causes.
