Description

As the medpod continues to repair his time-ravaged body in the real world, Colonel Raytak’s foes inside the game world of Limitless Lands execute their carefully-laid schemes, seeking his ruin. Wrongfully accused of treason, Raytak finds himself a prisoner of the Imperium he serves.

To clear his name, Raytak is forced to fight in the arena, seeking victory in the Emperor’s Grand Melee to earn his freedom…but he can’t do it alone. To win, he must forge brutal prisoners, cowards, and deserters into a fighting force capable of conquering every gladiatorial team standing in his way.

Meanwhile, an ancient threat stirs in Hayden’s Knoll and the zone is left unprotected in Raytak’s absence.

Will Raytak be able to regain his freedom and his honor? Will the new threat destroy the zone before he can return to fight it?

Best book yet

The arena storyline has been the best storyline so far by a wide margin Imo. The narrator who I detested in book one has marketedly improved and I think he gave a good performance this time around. I found it a bit hard to picture the large scale battles that the author is attempting to create in my mind, but that doesn't detract too much from the overall enjoyment I received from the novel.

Stalking Audible’s website for book four.

First off I just wanted to say: as a Marine this story was seriously lacking on Crayons. ;)

This series is an example of superlative writing and craftsmanship. It’s an original spin on a genre that seems to have gotten stuck in just three possible plot lines.

While not everyone can perform with a voice that is as deep and gravely as a Sean Connery or Clint Eastwood, the narrator does an excellent job of keeping the individual characters distinctive enough that you can easily follow the conversations.

Special note to the author from an avid fan and crayon connoisseur:

As an individual who has driven a hundred miles to sit in those waiting rooms for hours until someone could “practice” medicine on me, I have had the humble pleasure to listen the stories of several of the heroes you have spoken about in your author’s notes. I would also like to thank you for sharing the love brother.

A great entry in an amazing series

These books have not been par for the course of Litrpg books, they have all the elements but are told in a far different way, and three books in its been a very good thing. The soldier of a Litrpg world (as opposed to adventurer) angle just keeps giving coupled with an outstanding narration Job gives this title a real movie vibe. Without spoiling portions of this book our MC faces a whole new set of challenges, the story introduces new characters and overall gives the listener a whole new perspective on the game world. it takes us away from the main Town and zone of the story for a fun line of quests the MC must complete, while tying him back into the town and zones over arching story near the end.The real world angle has a few big developments as well!
The narration for these books continues to improve, Jack delivers another great entry into the series with a plethora of voices for many characters that really bring them to life. I'd suggest picking up any book this narrator is on as he does a wonderful job. at the very least if you are a litrpg fan give this series a try, the story and the narration will not disappoint!

Off to a great start!

I originally purchased book 1 on a lark as I was choosing a book for a cross country flight. I couldn't put the headphones down! Then I devoured book 2. Book 3 is off to a great start (I'm halfway through). The narration is fantastic and, I'm not going to spoil it, but Raytak is no Mary Sue!

Loved this book!

This was so much fun I really enjoyed the change of pace for Reytac and the disgrace Commander class was a clever change of pace while adding to the all-around story. As with the first two books the character progression is phenomenal and extremely well done. I cannot wait to check out the next book.

The third book seems to drag on a bit more than I would've liked

Book 1 was interesting and I mostly enjoyed 2. But book 3 seems to extend the time between action scenes with a ton of dialog. And most of it doesn't feel very interesting to me. I found myself getting bored almost instantly every time I tried listening to it. Took me 3 months to get 5 hours in. Finally have to give it up. Others might enjoy that, but it's not for me.

Great Book!

I received a free copy and am leaving a voluntary review.

In this book Raytak is disgraced and must fight in arenas to attempt to regain his freedom and honor. His friends go on a quest to try to prove his innocence. Meanwhile, enemies continue to plot to build their power at the expense of others.

I really enjoyed this book. If you liked the prior books in the series, I recommend this one too. it was interesting to follow the unique path Raytak's story took. I liked the battle strategies he employed. This book has some especially touching scenes that were sweet and emotional. Of course, there is also Crunchy to provide comic relief, making the book well rounded, like a complete meal with everything you could want.

This book is narrated well, which adds to the entertainment.

Great addition despite a rushed ending

coming to book three I am already very invested in the series and the journey. I loved the coliseum / gladiatorial aspect of the story and it was handled very well. The section of the novel at the end where they battle for hold fast, felt very rushed though. it felt as if that could have been the opening story arc of the next book and given more time to be flushed out, but they just dove straight into the action and defeated them handedly. otherwise this book was fantastic and did a great job of continuing the series and story
