To graduate with my master's in journalism, I have to join the pen pal program, where I'm linked up with a prisoner and have to exchange letters for a year. I need him to graduate. He needs me to get out of that hell.

This is supposed a quick, one-page letter once a month. Except a lot can happen in a year when he's the only person that listens to me. Everything changes. Not only does East become my best friend, but suddenly, he's the keeper of almost all my secrets.
