Description

The sickly servant. A powerful young master. An alliance Kingdoms are made from.

Centuries before a certain dungeon first met a wise pink wisp, the world was torn apart by war. For a time, even the Guild was shaken to its core as a wave of necromantic cultivators surged forth from the dark corners of the earth.

Garron feels the impact of war differently than most, as a servant in the estate of a Mage that left for the war. The young lord Andros and his servant have been left in the tender care of the ambitious cultivator, Jackson. The workload is a death sentence: Andros is forced to train in near-isolation, and Garron has fallen ill. One fateful night, they make a run for survival and freedom.

Jackson doesn’t take kindly to his meal ticket vanishing into the night. The Hunt is on.

Excellent addition to the Divine Dungeon Series

Absolutely wonderful start of a series and seamless integration into an already existing universe. The characters were well fleshed out with incredibly organic interactions and drives you could relate to. The addition to the lore was well executed, despite the placement in the timelines within the rest of the Divine Dungeon Series. If you love the other books in this series you will love this as well.

The right way to expand a universe!

Hunt is a novel set in the Divine Dungeon universe. This book tells the story of the King of the Lion Kingdom. Garron and Andros are two teenagers that have grown up in the Tet household. The major difference is Andros is the Lord of the house’s son and Garronis a servant.

Life gets much tougher as Garron gets sicker and weaker. Then, Andros’s father is called off to war. The steward of the house has plans to prosper as much as possible at the expense of the house and the boys are just in the way. Andros decides to take a few things that he needs to help Garron and they both take off in the night. Jackson soon learns about this and begins his Hunt.

I have been wanting an expanded universe for Divine Dungeon and I am so pleased with this story kicking it off! I seriously couldn’t stop this book. The audible was amazing as well!

Very PG maybe even G.

The MC goes out of his way to not kill the evil people who are trying to kill him. The person who betrayed him, nope, he still lives. The mercenaries that are vindictive and try to kill him several times, nope. The bandits he runs into, nope; He leaves them unconscious! This book does not follow the world created by Dakota Krout well. one of the most interesting things about the dongeon born series was the unique morals that the dongeon followed and the discovery that came with leaning about the world and how to push those boundaries. In this book the MC doesn't learn Anything! sure he "creates" things, all of which are incredibly complicated but that is handwaved as "he learned from the engineer" at the king's estate. I also have a problem with the interactions of the Dongeon and wisp with the MC. Not once does the Dongeon try to eat the MC, or his friends or his enemies (unless they were one of the very few that were accidentally killed by the MC)! The Dongeon is too sentient for being a weak beast core, I have no real problem with that if it were addressed better. If something is not standard or goes against the world mechanics, it needs to be addressed. I'm not saying you have to answer why right away (a little mystery is great for a book) but someone should have mentioned that this is not normal. I could keep going on but I'll stop there. This book could have been amazing but I had to push myself to even finish it.

Fenominal

Wow, I didn't think I would find another book as amazing as Dungeon Born but I did. The performance by Daniel Wisniewski was utter fantasy. 👏 The story was perfect. Now I'm going to reread the divine dungeon series while I wait anxiously for book 2. Thank you Rohan, and thank you Dakota!

Rise of the Lion lineage.

Ever wanted more DD expanded universe? Wait no more. Join King Henry's father on his Journey to create the lion kingdom. The only complaint I had for this book was that I have to wait for more of the story.

breath of fresh air

Okay I just finished Lions Liniage, that was definetly a good breath of fresh air when it comes to this franchise. This is probably the farthest away from the other stories I’ll get while being a part of the Mountaindale universe and it’s definetly a fun step right now.
This book is almost entirely spoilers, a really surprising amount of stuff I don’t feel like I should say considering it’s the first book.
The characterization here is B level. Neither the author’s A game, nor how it is when he takes the focus. I’m not sure what the colabratory author, Rohan, brings to the table. If he’s the primary writer for this book it’s definetly good, but I don’t have a feel for how it compare to other stories.
This book takes a balanced approach when it comes to charecters and plot, being firmly in the middle. Honestly parts have the feeling of a YA boxcar children while others are more like the first arc of an isekai.
A good book and presents a lot of good info for later, I honestly want to learn more but I’m stuck with this for now. Highly recommended.

Love the universe and story but some kinks.

The beginning was tough to get through although I usually listen while driving to and from work and working nights doesn't always help. The middle was decent but the ending was well planned and performed! It felt like some parts were rushed and others took too long. It wasn't a seemless read either, it definitely felt like two writers which made the book harder to listen to but I am extremely excited for the new content!

One other thing I noticed was that it seemed like there was too many name changes going on. Along with the possibility that sometimes one name would be stated but I felt it was actually the opposite character they should have been talking about.

I can't wait for more work from this universe to come out! Even though I felt like there were some flaws I still highly recommend immersing yourself in this wonderful universe that Dakota Krout has made and I hope that he'll continue to deliver!

Irrational characters, Slow Confused plot.

Rohan had a wonderful world pre built for him, and still fails to even hit the tee ball, much less a home run. I made it 3/4, then had to give up.
