Sound effects on the Audio version were annoying

The good part: Latin American Spanish. Modern story with modern vocabulary. It is an upper intermediate as advertised. The quality of the story/plot was what would be expected and easy to follow. I have read worse.

Annoying part: The heroine was receiving harassing phone calls, and the listener has to listen to the cell phone ring, jarringly, frequently. There was also a few unnecessary "atmosphere setting" back ground noises in some scenes. The Chapters were super short, just a few minutes long, causing frequent breaks in listening. They were also cut into chapters in what seemed like mid theme, perhaps to give the student small chunks to read, but in the audio these sudden pauses were counter productive, interrupting the flow of listening. Because of these annoyances, I had a hard time sitting through this book, and would not re-listen ever. I would recommend buying the ebook and not the audio version.
