Park ranger Kyler Clemons had loved the vibe and the beach of Mustang Island. Getting caught with her boss’ wife, however, got her transferred to the wild and remote Davis Mountains State Park - in the middle of nowhere. Now after four years, she’s forgotten about the beach and has embraced the mountain life, feeling like a local. She hangs out at the Cottonwood Creek Bar and Grill. She watches football with Mark Walton. She’s taken up birdwatching and stargazing. She is perfectly content. No stress. No drama. And no desire to date. Then Lexie Walton waltzes into her life.

Jacqueline Keys was ostracized from her small hometown of Pine Springs, Texas, when she was 17, sent away because she was gay. Fifteen years later - long after she'd hitch-hiked to Los Angeles, put herself through college, and had written her first best seller - Jacqueline is persuaded to go back to the tiny town of Pine Springs after her father's death. The quick trip she'd envisioned for the funeral turns into weeks as she learns her father's business is suddenly hers to manage. And she is also again face-to-face with the woman who, as a teen, had been Jackie's first crush.

Sutton Spencer's ideas for her life were fairly simple: finish graduate school and fall in love. It would be a lot simpler if she could pinpoint exactly what she should do when she graduates in less than a year. Oh, and if she could figure out how to talk to a woman without feeling like a total mess, that would be great, too. Charlotte Thompson is very much the opposite.

Great romance by Gerri Hill. Even though I enjoyed reading this book years ago, Abby Craden adds new life to the characters which makes the romance even better. Well worth the purchase.

It Grows on You
I really like the Gerri Hill love stories and I eagerly awaited Love Waits, I bought it on pre-order then began listening the same day I downloaded it. I can report that it really is pretty good, I was initially disappointed with this one, it gets better each time I listen to it. Once again the staples of a Gerri Hill are there, and what they they lack in originality they make up for in impact and warmth; so to recap. Take a huge helping of "At Seventeen," throw in some "Midnight Moon" add in the staple of too many romance novels; the quintessential lame miscommunication breakup. Then there is the unfortunate lead characters breakup due to either a lack of communication or miscommunication or simple lack of ovaries. Then there is the silly plot device of a character who decides that the truth isn't the way to go, makes up a silly lie, then sticks said lie despite it's stupidity and the certainty that the truth will be exposed and expose her and her lie which will make her appear to be really immature not to mention silly. Thus by the time the HEA comes to pass, some of the shine is off the apple and the author has taken the lesrom shortcut when any fan of hers knows she's capable of so much more. That being said, this book is good enough to overcome it's more ridiculous aspects and turn out to not that far short of a 5 star rating. It doesn't compare with the author's best, or even rank in her top five, it is pretty good though, good enough to rank above most of the genre. Yes even a mediocre Gerri Hill lesrom is a good choice and can be appreciated.

One of Gerri Hill's best
Gerri Hill is a solid author who writes all manner of books, but whose strong suit is definitely romance - and LOVE WAITS is one of her strongest romances. This story of young love, separation, and long delayed, adult reunion, is a moving tale of the love of a lifetime that almost fails because of a break-up that is so ludicrously lame that it made me moan out loud in exasperation. Once past that bump, the plot rolls along smoothly with well crafted prose, adequate angst, and finely wrought love scenes enough to satisfy any fan of love stories. The tale's many jumps back and forth along the timeline are handled competently and without confusion to the reader. Overall, this a truly enjoyable listen. Speaking of enjoyable listening, Abby Craden's reading made this story a real treat for the ears. I swear she could read a Trump Tweet and make it sound alluring. What a talent!

Irritating
I was just frustrated with the characters the entire time and none of the situations were anything close to realistic. I have read quite a few Gerri Hill books and this one isn’t going to be one of my favorites. The whole time I was just hoping it would get better but even when it was over I was still left unsatisfied. I enjoyed most of the flashbacks though and honestly would have preferred if this book was just about them as kids.

Why did I wait so long to listen to this book?!
Why did I wait so long to read/listen to this book?! This was the perfect quick read/listen that I was looking for. I could relate to the characters completely... not the waiting almost 20 years part... but that whole first love and knowing that love is your forever love! I loved the story and the back and forth between present day and their past years. It was the perfect blend back and forth. Hot romance too! Not over the top, but you got that perfect feel for the intensity they both felt for each other, then and now! I would definitely read this one again... and Abby Craden just makes it the perfect listen. I wish I had listened to it sooner. I just loved it!

When I heard Carly and Pat mentioned in this book, it put a huge smile on my face lol. If anyone is wondering who's Carly and Pat, I suggest you read "Gulf Breeze" it's their story and a really really good book!! I love when books connect characters. Gerri and Abby has yet to fail me, they are magic together.
