Clara Blackstock is a woman on the run. She realizes she can't live her life in fear anymore, as she sees the effect Ryan’s abuse has on her son. Clara refuses to watch her son fade day by day, as her ex-husband's rage and control begin to affect him. So when Marge, her great aunt from Belfast, Maine, reaches out and offers her a safe haven, she jumps at the chance.

Belfast seems like paradise after the misery of Texas, and Clara hopes that this will be a place of healing for her and Declan. But there's nothing peaceful about the town handyman, Greer McCurdy.
