Cattle ranch owner Jacob and his wife Maria live in a state of happiness, both look forward to the birth of the baby they have longed for until tragedy hits home. Jacob is left alone, grieving and heartbroken with his baby son, whom he can't look at or name because this baby took his beloved Maria away from him. Jacob falls into despair and his ranch is suffering, he can't find it in his heart to care for the child. He decides to advertise for a 'wife' to be the child's mother and take the burden away.
