Why have history's greatest minds - from George Washington to Frederick the Great to Ralph Waldo Emerson along with today's top performers, from Super Bowl-winning football coaches to CEOs and celebrities - embraced the wisdom of the ancient Stoics? Because they realize that the most valuable wisdom is timeless and that philosophy is for living a better life, not a classroom exercise. The Daily Stoic offers a daily devotional of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations.

Histoire
This collection of 11 wide-ranging lectures which appeared originally in 1933, was based on lectures previously given when Jung was in the process of absorbing a considerable period of study of Eastern religions, Gnosticism and other religious sources. It was a time, according to the translator Cary F. Baynes, ‘when the Western world stands on the verge of a spiritual rebirth...after a long period of outward expansion, we are beginning to look inside ourselves once more.’

Histoire
Stoicism, a school of Hellenistic thought founded in Athens in the third century BC, was one of the most sublime philosophies in the history of Western civilization. It is a way of living that focuses on reality instead of fantasy or idealism. According to its teachings, the path to peace and happiness is found in accepting the moment as it presents itself, by not allowing oneself to be ruled by the desire for pleasure or by the fear of pain.

Histoire
Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey are unquestionably two of the greatest epic masterpieces in Western literature. Though more than 2,700 years old, their stories of brave heroics, capricious gods, and towering human emotions are vividly timeless. The Iliad can justly be called the world’s greatest war epic. The terrible and long-drawn-out siege of Troy remains one of the classic campaigns. The Odyssey chronicles the many trials and adventures Odysseus must pass through on his long journey home from the Trojan wars to his beloved wife.

Full of wisdom and circumspection!
Full of wisdom and circumspection at the risk, however, of being almost too pithy to fully grasp!

I couldn't listen to this guy for 10 min
I wish I read the other review because now I have to buy a copy read by someone else. I'm really not exaggerating how bad this is. it like he adds an unnecessary comma after every 3 words. DON'T BUY

Narration is extremely monotonous!
It was very difficult to follow through because of how the story was told. I couldn’t help but rewind each chapter on loop to get to the gist of it!

Get the book with a different narrator
The narrator is atrocious, I really wish there was a different narrator. His voice is robotic and gets randomly loud or very quite that you can barely hear what he's saying and it's completely out of context. It made it REALLY hard to enjoy/ take in the book.
