It's amazing how effortless it is to slip back into these characters after such a long break. Love hearing the author read his own work; there's something familiar and safe in his voice for me. The re-recordings of the older books and the various readers of the new books are ok, but don't have the same impact. #Audible1

A masterful storyteller with a terribly human story to tell. This is a highly recommended listening opportunity. I was first introduced to this storyline back in 1994 when I stumbled upon the PBS presentation of 'Tales of the City.' I fell in love with the story, the characters and with San Francisco. Listening to Mr. Maupin reading his own deliciously captivating words was truly a delight. I could not wait for opportunities to listen and found myself laughing and crying just as though I were watching the televised production all those years ago.

Armistead is awesome.
