À propos de cet audio

Mill Point Road is the latest thriller from best-selling author JK Ellem.

When Rebecca Cartwright moves into the gated community of Mill Point Road, in Ravenwood, she thought she had found her sanctuary. Amongst the beautiful homes, she soon discovers that the other women of Mill Point Road aren’t what they seem. Detective Marvin Richards, a veteran homicide cop, moved to picturesque Ravenwood for peace and quiet. That was until a serial killer decided to dump their fourth victim near Mill Point Road. He enlists the help of Haley Perez, a rookie patrol officer, and together they go on the hunt for the Eden Killer, a cunning, evasive serial killer whose victims are all young men named Adam. The trail of clues leads them to Mill Point Road, where they discover something dark and sinister is lurking in this seemingly tranquil and insulated Garden of Eden.

Admittedly, JK Ellem does a reasonably effective job exploring the circumstances surrounding a fascinating serial killer murdering men named 'Adam' in the community - but the majority of his story deals with gossipy self-obsessed neighbor women manipulating each other, having affairs, and discussing their sex lives. The writing is passable (decent vocabulary/prose, capable plotting, realistic dialogue, etc) - but the straight-up salacious subject matter never captivated me.

Reader Sarah Borges contributes to my "Meh" assessment of the book with a distinctly average performance. Don't get me wrong - her diction, timbre, cadence, and timing are creditable - but Borges exhibits a mechanical (+/- occasionally overdramatic) tone and uninspired voice-acting. QUEST/W.F.Howes could have gotten similar quality from any professional reader.

If you enjoy voyeuristic exposés of entitled people behaving scandalously, 'Mill Point Road' could provide you with acceptable entertainment, I guess. Personally, I find that stuff pointless (and - frankly - stupid). If it wasn't offered as part of the 'Plus' initiative, I wouldn't have tried this audiobook.. and that's appropriate. This 4/10-star recording isn't worth a Credit.
