À propos de cet audio
The main character is a virtual game developer, who forces his way into the game. His character is a beetle who has lost his memory and doesn't consider himself a monster.
He begins to upgrade his skills and get different achievements. He's trying to get to the truth as he pieces together shards of his memories, which he can't completely trust. As his intelligence grows, his memories are coming back.
The realm he falls into is an underground world, which consists of 10 levels, with different caves, tunnels, and monsters.
The dungeons are full of hostile beetles of different types, forms, and sizes. There are a clear hierarchy and division between them. At the same time, two endless wars are going on: one between monsters' clans, and the other between monsters and humans.

To be certain, the game system includes standard character progression (stat & skill grinding/XP-based leveling/etc) and the HP + "Energy Manipulation"/MP dynamics are unoriginal.. but the POV is innovative. Belsky is imaginative.
Translator Denis Lapenkov must do a nice job translating from the Russian, too, because the story is easy to follow and metagame notifications are placed intuitively.. although Selheur's inner dialogue is admittedly autistic-level punctilious and otherwise pretty sophomoric. This book is better suited for gaming-obsessed geeks or an older teen audience than it is for someone with broad non-specfic Fantasy-SciFi tastes like myself.
As to presentation: Tantor Audio Inc. didn't blow me away with the decision to cast Stephen Bel Davies to read the book, either - despite exemplary sound editing (softening the narrator's natural sibilance nicely). I was underwhelmed.
Don't get me wrong, Bel Davies turns in an enjoyable performance.. it's just that any professional reader in their stable could have generated similar results. The listening quality is "average" overall.
Altogether, 'Monster' rates 5.5 stars out of 10. I enjoyed it as I got it for free, but can't recommend spending your Credit on it when better options beckon (Shemer Kuznits's 'Life Reset' stories are much, much better unconventional MC tales, for example)
Original Idea. "Decent" Execution.
