But Parker's clever scheme backfires when the army swoops in and puts everyone on emergency lockdown. Now, his classmates are trapped at home with their parents, who insist on limiting their screen time, making them eat Brussels sprouts, and sharing their feelings. Desperate, Parker tricks the mayor into reopening the school, so that he and his fellow students can construct a top-secret robo-protector to fight the monsters. In truth, this is just another scam to organize an all-out game-a-thon on the school's computers with zero adult supervision—A KAIJU SUMMER!

But when the towering monsters ultimately stomp their way into town, it's up to Parker to fend off the beasts. But that means convincing his video game buddies to actually build the robo-Guardian he promised and become the hero he's been pretending to be all along.
