After a long day on the job, house painter Gus Berry is looking forward to relaxing and spending some time with his girlfriend before returning to work the next day. But none of that is going to happen.

I loved the Mountain man Omnibus and Gus was my favorite character. This was a great prequel and got to learn about how it all started.

A great beginning to a zombie apocalypse story told by one of my favorite narrators. I'm looking forward to listening to the next audiobook in the series.

An Exciting Ride

I listened to the hour and a half mini story of the same series as a start into the world of audio books and was swept away by the story and performance of the narrator. I immediately moved into the prequel and was blown away for the second time. R.C. Bray was a name I never heard and now I can't stop listening. I can't recommend this enough!

As an introduction into audio books

The story's setup felt so utterly believable in the mundane, yet creative, descriptions. Life before the chaos.
Kudos on the performance and the emotional narrative.
The end was slightly fairytale, but given all the prior events, forgivable.

This was well worth the money, exciting but funny at times. I have gone through 1 to 5 so far and enjoyed them all, each one is a little better than its predecessor. Also love the fact that is based in Canada’s east coast, love it there.

I have now listened to the complete Mountain Man series (to date... hope for more) and enjoyed it immensely. I am satisfied that I saved the prequel until last since having gotten to know Gus throughout the series, I developed a better empathy for him as he is introduced to and struggles through the beginnings of the zombie terror. Honestly, I strongly recommend all of the Mountain Man books that are surprisingly well-written, engrossing and narrated wonderfully by R.C. Bray.
