The book itself is ok. I’ll probably continue getting the series. This had too many “M” last names that got confusing for me. A lot of characters introduced, too many for me. I’ll have to listen to this a second time before getting them all straightened out. Also it’s a bit disconcerting when you read historical romance books and they say a$$. Not a fan. Not very romantic. But the series will do. I just want to listen to Susan Duerden and she does the whole series. Her voices are perfect.

I had trouble getting into the story at first and I wonder if the choice of narrator has to do with it. Too many characters that I couldn’t tell appart. I even paused to check if the story was being read by an AI narrator. It’s not, and I eventually got used to it and I kinda want to see what happens with the other sisters….but I might just wait until they are available for less than a credit. I usually love sibling series, but I found the Duke, the Earl and his sister more interesting than the Essex girls.
