Description

Family is everything to Siobhán: her five siblings; her dear departed mother for whom the family business, Naomi’s Bistro, is named; and now her fiancé, Macdara Flannery. So precious is her engagement that Siobhán wants to keep it just between the two of them for a little longer.

But Macdara is her family, which is why when his cousin Jane frantically calls for his help, Siobhán is at his side as the two garda rush from Kilbane to the rural village where Jane and her mother have recently moved. Unfortunately, tragedy awaits them. They find Jane, who is blind, outside the cottage, in a state. Inside, Aunt Ellen lies on her bed in a fancy red dress, no longer breathing. A pillow on the floor and a nearby teacup suggest the mode of death to their trained eyes: the woman has been poisoned and smothered. Someone wanted to make sure she was dead. But who?

Devout believers in Irish folklore, the villagers insist the cottage is cursed - built on a fairy path. It turns out Ellen Delaney was not the first to die mysteriously in this cottage. Although the townsfolk blame malevolent fairies, Siobhán and Macdara must follow the path of a murderer all too human - but just as evil....

Irish cozy

I’ve become a devoted fan of this series, these characters, and this narrator. Highly recommend if you like listening to an Irish brogue as you try to outwit the Garda.

Lovely Authentic Accent & Story

Pretty exciting and delightful twists to this story. The main voice was lovely, never annoying, and seemingly authentic.

Perfect English murder mystery.

Good story, not sappy or predictable. Excellent character development as well as atmospheric description. I loved the narrator. She was perfect for this story and enhanced the narrative with her telling and accent.

Highly recommend Audio version...

My vision is quite limited, so Audiobooks are a great resource for me. The combination of Carlene O’Conner’s writing and Caroline Lennon’s narration is delightful. This story is told in the true tradition of an Irish tale. It has many twists, good humor, and a cozy mystery that weaves itself round and round like a fairy circle, holding your fascination. If you have only read this latest release in ‘An Irish Village Mystery’ series, consider listening to the audio version. Definitely one of my favorites!

enjoyed it

It's a light, good read that interested me related to the backstory of each character. I found the main story too shallow and figured it or from the first introduction of binoculars. That's not a spoiler for others, unless you figured it out there too.

Legends and Faeries and Gold...Oh My!

This is a well written continuation of the Irish Village Mysteries. There are enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing until the end.
I was hoping for a bit more insight into the 2 main characters relationship (sorry, I can’t spell their names correctly). This aside, we do meet the groom to be’s family, which sets the stage for the murder mystery. Ms. O’Connor’s use of imagery makes you feel you are in these small towns, and part of the action. I would love to go to Ireland and explore these towns!

I love Ms. Lennon’s performance. She really brings the characters to life for the listener!
I look forward to the next book in the series, and hopefully some wedding bells for our couple and for James and Elise as well.
