À propos de cet audio

Is airship travel safe? Not if there’s a killer on board.

When business magnate Robert Jeffreys announces his investment in airships, he hosts a promotional flight for a group of reporters. Working undercover in the crew is retired spy Augusta Peel. She’d rather be working on her book repair business, but Inspector Fisher of Scotland Yard has persuaded her to help with a surveillance operation.

The press trip on the airship takes a turn when a body is found in a cabin. Augusta now has a new challenge on her hands. Can she identify the murderer? It’s tricky to find a motive among the sophisticated passengers—some of them are sophisticated liars, too.

Events escalate when a second death occurs. The airship murderer is covering their tracks. Augusta faces a race against time before the culprit tracks her down and silences her too.

Book 3 is better

I read book 3 before reading this book and thought it was way better.

This was the third book by this author. The first was atrocious (Book 6 of the Penny Green series), the second was book 3 in this series and now this one, and I've come to realize that this author doesn't know how to write the murderer reveal or a showdown leading to the ending. I don't mean to give spoilers but all of her books have this running theme of the murderers trying to or offing themselves, by choice and in two of the three books, the killer literally reveals themselves, rather than the crime being solved. The reveal in book 3 was way better, but in this book it was almost a surprise to Augusta and the detective, though the person was on their list of suspects. The killer walks up to them on the street, reveals they are the killer and gives all the details, all unprovoked. What a let down! Don't get me started on the fact that Augusta is supposed to be this ex-spy, yet she willingly walks into a dark room that is left open, though she always keeps it locked, with only a fleeting thought about why it's open. Absoluetly no thought of danger. Then she proceeds to work in the small basement room with the killer hiding in a darkened corner....yep, let that very ridiculous thought sit- all without any thought to make sure no one is hiding in the room. worst, she doesn't even discover the killer was there ready to kill her until they reveal it to her HOURS later.

Book 3 had a viable motive for the murders, but this book was grabbing at true crime straws.

Narration: The narrator is fantastic, however her voice is all wrong for the character. Augusta is supposed to be this relatively young woman, but the narrators voice gives mature older lady vibes. She is great, but just not for the character.
