This is one of my most favorite books but I’ve wanted to do a proper review for it. Leta’s style is so satisfying, full and rich and very sensual. I love that the kink is intrinsically tied to complex emotions, and her characters are so emotionally vulnerable and willing to grow so powerfully.
John Solo is the perfect narrator for this title, as his performances are always a heady mix of softness and strength, which is exactly what was needed to explore the themes of knk, shäme, internalized h0m0ph0b1a, and what it’s like to embrace your true Qu33r self in this title. I can’t think of a better narrator who walks the edge between the polar points and listening to him uncover the depth of Leta’s character in audio was SUCH a pleasure. I had high hopes for it since it was a fave in print, but it still beat them in audio, and I have high standards for my faves. But i knew John wouldn’t let me down! 🤣
The story itself is still balls-to-the-wall hot af. Matthew is a 40 something, fresh out of the closet virg1n who just lost his puritanical christen-conservative adoptive parents who shamed him into hiding his Queer identity, and indirectly led him to live with some very unhealthy coping mechanisms most of his adult life.
While on a work trip, he goes into a Knk charity auction and comes across a Christmas themed Dâddy/bôy experience that opens his eyes to everything he wants from healthy kink and loving his qu33r identity, never mind that Dâddy!Erik is the hottest guy he’s ever seen.
He bids and wins and upon meeting the man, there’s chemistry neither can deny and the experience is more than either can hope for, for Christmas or forever!
