Written by Anoushka Warden, directed by Debbie Hannan and music by The Last Skeptik, this version was produced by Fight in the Dog and Showroom Productions for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2019.

My Mum’s a Twat premiered at the Royal Court Theatre, London, in 2018. It was produced by Royal Court and Amy Powell Yeates.

A bite-sized story of a girl’s journey to break cycles of abuse and find peace by setting boundaries. Having a parent lost to a cult of sorts, I felt the author’s frustration so deeply. Would definitely recommend.

The narrator is hilarious, I love her expressive voice. You would think it was her own story by how emotive she is while reading!
The story itself is quite sad but written in a humorous way. If you liked Running With Scissors and auto-biographies about growing up in a dysfunctional home, this will touch your heart.

A funny and sad memoir of growing up on the periphery of a cult. The author, Anoushka Warden, expertly weaves together humour and pain from the unique perspective of a child who lost a parent to a cult. The narration by Susan Wokoma was brilliant.

I laughed out loud and felt for the little girl in this funny but sad story. The author tells her story in this short. She expertly used humour to describe how a cult changed her life forever. The narrator was great and was very expressive.
