Aldric knew from a young age that he was destined to become a mage. After running from home at the age of six he was taken in by the Arch Mage Lorelei Ironheart, and brought under her care and tutelage at the orphanage she runs with her husbands. There he learned the truth on how to become a mage, and how to gain the bonds that would become the family he always wanted.
However, his awakening doesn't go as expected and the Academy, where all mages for the Empire are taught, need to see him so they can evaluate what happened. He sets out with Lorelei and her husband Duncan, his best friend Zach, and his childhood crush Jordan, to learn his destiny.
What he learns there will forever change the course of his life and will have long lasting implications not only for him, but for the Empire at large.

Poor tone matching

The male voices needs work. Some of the descriptions of the voices and the voice chose do not line up at all. A larger issue is that the male characters voices at times get mixed up and jumbled.
The audio editor needs or needed to make another pass over the work because it happens too often and is quite noticeable.
Enjoyable but the male voices needs another pass by the editor.

The good: there are other men who aren't horrible people! Too often haremlit has the MC as the only decent man in existence. The female voices are well done. There's a decent explanation for harems, with a rare gender-neutral and LGBT-friendly rationale. It's good a good "Hogwarts-lite" feel to it. The main character has things he's bad at (history class!). The main character's inexperience with women is portrayed realistically (perhaps too much so).
The bad: the main character is just insanely overpowered from the start, with no explanation for it. And the main character and his first Bond provide amazing advice to the other mages that is life-changing and... not particularly insightful. Seriously? At a school of wizardry that has been around for centuries? The male voices are so-so, with some sounding very similar to each other. The spicy scenes are a bit bland.
All in all, I don't regret listening to it, but don't think I will continue.
