À propos de cet audio

From New York Times bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson comes Nether Station, a thrilling mix of epic science fiction and Lovecraftian horror.

Space is vast. Space is full of wonders. Space is terrifying.

In the darkest part of the solar system lies a wormhole. Nether.

Astrophysicist Cammie Skoura has joined the first research team traveling to the Nether anomaly, eager to understand the mechanics of the wormhole and to explore its possibilities as a shortcut to Alpha Centauri.

But another race of ancient beings has already been here—an impossibly long time ago—leaving remnants of their vast complexes and gigantic temples built for horrific beings beyond comprehension.

What dangers did those elder races find in the hidden corners of spacetime?

What did they unleash?

And what remains?

Now, Cammie and the crew of Nether Station must find the answers—before the darkest part of the cosmos swallows them up …

The narrater spoke every sentence as though he was calling the play by play in the final game of the final series and the home team had a breakaway to the goal in the final minute. I suffered through it because the story was not to bad. Like space Lovecraft but not so well written.

Reminiscent of something you might have read in the olden days in Weird Tales! magazine, Kevin J. Anderson has conjured a credible homage to the era's fiction, bringing us something that feels like a space-age Lovecraft or Robert Chambers style tale. Though it struggles a little with character development and with the subtleties of tone and trope that truly evocative cosmic horror demands, Nether Station is nevertheless an enjoyable horror yarn, and a fun foray into the Cthulhu Mythos.

While Brick is a veteran narrator I've enjoyed from other audiobooks, I don't think he was a great choice for this. His take on the text was a little on the sensational side, lending the book an almost soap opera feel, and not managing to find the kind of tone that would have benefited this sort of story.

I hope Anderson tries his hand at Mythos fiction again. You can tell he's a fan of the genre, and this is a pretty good book - with just a little sharpening of rough edges, his next go at it might be really great.

Solid Stab at the Cthulhu Mythos

A very interesting concept with a wealth of plausible details and good depth to the characters, especially the main protagonist. I'm not a fan of the narrator but that may just be personal preference.

Very good science fiction

An ok storyline. Predictable. Unnecessary creepy romance hinted at. Narrator was terrible, almost couldn’t finish the book.

Poor narration

Imagine reading out loud to a 3 year old. Now imagine you are not 3 but the narrator thinks you are. The exclamations and intonations that entertain a 3yr old are super annoying to anyone older. Compounding the badness is the terrible writing. This can’t possibly be Kevin J Anderson author of the Saga of Seven Suns. This has to be a young adult’s first book. Do not buy this book.

Narrator is soooo bad. Writing is so bad. This can’t be Kevin J Anderson.
