Before the ashes of war have been fully swept away, Captain Celesta Wright is dispatched to the Frontier with a small taskforce to investigate a mysterious signal while the Confederacy struggles to hold itself together. A partnership with this new species could help accelerate the recovery effort, but is the offer too good to be true? Can humanity risk another fight with an advanced alien species right on the heels of the bloodiest war that had ever been waged?

Yet another exceptional start to a second set of triliogies, Joshua Dalzelle and narrator Mark Boyette do not fail to deliver!

the storyline the characters all are fantasticall well drawn out. The author has kept the characters growth from the first three books steady and it was a great joy to see where he improved on them. the experiences that they have had and learned from you can see the growth in the characters

As with the 3 preceding volumes in the Blackfleet series, this book went by in a flash. I believe there was one point where the narrator confused the accents of two different sounding characters, which confused me as to who was speaking, but other than that, did his usual competent job. The story itself is wonderfully entertaining.

A mother solid entry in the series. politics, war, hard sifi (sifi that tries to be realistic), all in all an excellent book. only qualm is it ends too soon. 😄

So far I really like this book. It’s got interesting military tactics for space warfare. I’m not in the military so it sounds good to me. I’m interested to listen to the next two books in the series.

Mark Boyett is an amazing narrator that brings the story to the forefront with the listener… I found the story intriguing and wanting to find out more as to what happened after the phage war…. Can’t wait to read Book 2 from this trilogy and hear how Wolf saves the day!!
