terrible narration story could have been ok. im not sure that an abused mate is the way to go for a former slave. altogether cringy book

The voice interpretation was awful in my opinion. He used a dumb hick approach for the males which was very, very cringy to listen to.

Narrator made me think he was reading a history book, and the men all sounded like teenagers instead of warriors. Hard to get through

***Trigger Warning ⚠️ I had to stop listening to this book it’s not well written I actually started to feel sick. The female protagonist in the story was a slave to other aliens in her past who would rape and torture her until she became infertile***

Yet in this book these 3 alien cousins decided they want her as a mate, they pierce her body in multiple places without really getting her consent and it’s to show others she is their property! After being other aliens property this is that last thing they should do to her to create a healthy relationship.
Also they keep getting off on the idea of “punishing” her spanking/whipping. (If this was a healthy relationship I would be all for it! But they just met her and didn’t ask her what she liked or for her to give consent. Then as they spank her they say she likes it because she’s “wet” this is so messed up! Just because of a woman’s physical reaction that she doesn’t control it doesn’t mean she consents!
There was no time to get to know her or take any of her past experiences into consideration (they would mention it and say they would hurt those males if they found them) yet they are no better because they never asked her what she wanted or was comfortable with!!! Yuck it sounds like assault, this book is very triggering and I don’t recommend it to anyone! If I could give zero stars I would!!!!!

I think I dislike a fully male narration, especially for female characters. Never really connected to the characters, didn't care about their motivations, didn't enjoy this particular flavour of dominance/control. Despite spicy subject matter, the sexy parts were distinctly unsexy and profoundly boring. Narrator did nothing to increase the sexiness or tension.

DNF with 1 hour (@ 2xspeed) to go. Just couldn't stand to listen to another punishment-sex scene.
