À propos de cet audio

LAPD Detective Harry Bosch is off the chain in the fastest, fiercest, and highest-stakes case of his life.
Fortune Liquors is a small shop in a tough South L.A. neighborhood, a store Bosch has known for years. The murder of John Li, the store's owner, hits Bosch hard, and he promises Li's family that he'll find the killer.
The world Bosch steps into next is unknown territory. He brings in a detective from the Asian Gang Unit for help with translation--not just of languages but also of the cultural norms and expectations that guided Li's life. He uncovers a link to a Hong Kong triad, a lethal and far-reaching crime ring that follows many immigrants to their new lives in the U.S.
And instantly his world explodes. The one good thing in Bosch's life, the person he holds most dear, is taken from him and Bosch travels to Hong Kong in an all-or-nothing bid to regain what he's lost. In a place known as Nine Dragons, as the city's Hungry Ghosts festival burns around him, Bosch puts aside everything he knows and risks everything he has in a desperate bid to outmatch the triad's ferocity.

This book did a lot of things. A Chinese liquor store owner is shot to death in his store in what appears to be a Triad hit. The investigation requires Bosch to learn about Chinese culture and the Triad gangs. He has to fly to Hong Kong, where his ex-wife and daughter live, and he gets a glimpse of their lifestyle and the culture, first-hand. His roles as detective, ex-husband and father come together in a powerful way. Back home, he also has to deal with his unmotivated homicide partner.

I liked seeing the human side of Bosch crash into Bosch-the-cool-detective.

I almost gave it 4 stars because of something that happened that I disagreed with, but the story was so good and so well written, with great character development. Just because I disagreed with a plot point doesn't mean it deserved fewer stars.

Excellent narration.

Excellent

This is a good story that takes Bosch outside of his comfort zone without his LAPD badge. How he is able to function with so little sleep or food is a little far fetched. However, it's nice to see Bosch dealing with his human emotional side, it adds more depth to his character. Len Cariou does a great job, the asian accents are not as bad others are trying to suggest.

Bosch in Hong Kong

A fast paced story from L.A. to Hong Kong where Bosch needs to save the one he loved the most. Very intriguing storyline, and I’m on the edge of my seat, still trying to discover if there’s a leak, let alone the thriller of the search and rescue. Our late Canadian narrator, Len Cariou did an awesome job trying to imitate some of the Asian characters. Highly recommended if you’re a Bosch fan!

A definite thriller!

I can’t say I like Harry Bosch as a character but I do like Michael Connelly’s writing. Nine Dragons involves a major turning point in Bosch’s life and for me, I can’t wait to listen to next books in the series. If you like a simple but entertaining mystery novel, I would recommend this novel and the entire Harry Bosch series. #Audible1

A Turning Point for Bosch

This narrator is horrible. The accents are distractingly bad.

I love the Bosch series enough to listen anyway but I will be happy to hear Titus Welliver in the later books

Very poor performance
